The core function of the Child Protection Team is to promote awareness and the reporting procedure of child abuse. The team facilitates this through schools and community talks and through closed group work settings. Over the last year, the Child Protection Team conducted school and community talks, facilitated a training workshop and wrote newspaper articles.

In December 2016 the team hosted a Children’s Day Programme where 450 children were invited. The children were given breakfast, lunch, treats and gifts. The event was successful only because of the generous sponsors and donors from our communities.

The last programme that the team planned and facilitated was a foster parent workshop which highlighted the roles and responsibilities of being a foster parent, discipline and the severity of child abuse within our community. The child protection team continues to protect the rights of children.
